Thanks, I really appreciate the additions, however I would like to respectfully disagree with you about not sleeping, for two reasons: 1 While you don't move overnight, timed things like grilling will tick over, so setting up materials to cook then going to sleep will have freshly grilled food in the morning when you wake up.
I currently use ladders on either side of my building Much faster than going inside, running up stairs, etc. Good information!

Place a floor on top of these, placed away from the centre of your raft so you are now overhanging the raft edge by 1 block.
Build a ladder from the deck up to that floorboard. Climb up there and just repeat. The next 2 poles go on the furtherest edge of the ceiling, again away from the raft so it now overhandgs by a further block.
Repeat this till it is a leaning tower 5 or 6 stories high and it will overhang the raft by 5 or 6 blocks.
This makes it extremely easy to reach the very top of any island, and has a minimal footprint on the raft since it is only 2 poles and a ladder actually touching your raft.
I also recommend you make the 2 squares supporting each tower into re-enforced metal asap. Last edited by Ghostlight ; 30 May, am.

It allows you to move the raft relative to an island or abandoned raft easily with a paddle. Originally posted by Ghostlight :.

If you see another raft floating in the distance and decide to ditch your raft and go to that other one because it is bigger do not do this.
Because you will find a crate on that raft and once you open it the raft will start sinking. Never lose track of your raft! I made this mistake and lost my raft I eventually just abondaned that game.
If you want to hook supplies, something I have found usfuel is to use two fences at one of the front corners of your raft and make a corner.
That way you can run into it and hook things and not have the fear of falling off. Never use rope fences it is a waste of supplies.
Instead just use plain wooden fences. The reason why is because rope fences cost two wood and two rope, and normal wooden fences use only 2 wood.
I am not the first person to say this, thankfully I read other peoples tips before something bad happened. But whenever you have something important like storage or a water pruifier or anything, make sure that it is not on the outer edge of your raft so that the shark does not destroy it.
You can use the hammer to build platforms around it. Getting Food By Fishing — you can also craft a fishing rod by which you can catch fish and increase your food resources.
Build A Research Station — you can craft a research station that will help you develop more new tools and items for making your raft more advanced.
Sometimes you will get blueprints from the barrels when you find them place it on the research table and you will learn a new item. Under Exploration — when you decide to go underwater for searching and collecting resources.
Remember to place a shark bait to distract the shark and also get fins and oxygen tanks to stay longer under the water. If you use the upgraded spear instead, it only takes two hits before it backs off, leaving less damages to deal with.
Shark bait Shark bait is a great way to distract the shark whilst you go diving for resources. It is crafted using: 2 rope 1 raw herring 1 raw pomfret Once crafted, it can be thrown into the water as near or as far from the raft as you like by holding down the left mouse button.
The shark does tend to break this fairly quickly around seconds if not bothered. However if you, or a friend, stabs it everytime it goes for the bait, it will swim away and go back for it again.
This does increase the chances of it choosing you over the bait though. I find it better to put the bait closer to the raft so when the shark comes, i can stand on the raft and hit it whilst not being near the deadlly jaws.
Underwater Exploration Some resources are limited to underwater only, meaning at some point, you will have to enter the darkness with the shark lurking around.
The best place to do this is right up against an island or the boulders that stick out from the water. Here it is shallower, allowing for more time underwater and quick access to the raft if the shark comes for you.
When gathering resources from underwater, you will need to take your grappling hook. For the basic one, it will take 3 hits to break an item such as rock or metal ore whereas the upgraded one only takes one hit.
Some of the main things that you can find underwater are sand, clay, giant clams, sunken crates, metal ore and copper ore.
Its crucial not to forget to have an anchor on your raft to ensure it doesnt float away. The basic one is non-reuseable so will have to be crafted over and over again whereas the more expensive one can be used as many times as you like.
To allow for longer underwater exploration and faster swimming, you can learn and craft the makeshift fins and oxygen tank. Helpful and Time-saving Items Some items, not all of which have to be learned, become your best friend because of how helpful they can become.
Some examples are listed below: Collection net This is learned from the research table and is one of the most helpful items in the game currently as it auto collects floating objects and stacks them up, awaiting to be collected with ease.
They can be picked up by holding 'X' and replaced onto another side if your direction changes. Storage researched storage box This storage box becomes a life saver when you have gathered more materials than you can carry.
The small storage box only has 8 available slots, whereas the larger one just named storage has 20 available slots, allowing for proper and easier sorting of your items and less room being taken up.
